Double-Headed Serpent

The double-headed serpent is a unique and intricately designed Aztec sculpture. This sculpture was made by affixing crushed turquoise and oyster shells to a wooden base with pine resin and beeswax. It is believed that this was worn on a person's chest during religious ceremonies. Many Aztec gods were depicted as serpents, but it is believed that this sculpture was made as an ornament to worship the god Quetzalcoatl.
